Discussion Post Week 6

Examine the uses of copyright, today we talked about fair use, and how to properly use copyright laws so that you can use other peoples work for the right intent, and not get in trouble or be copyrighting some one else's work. I think that fair use is a very good idea, that way people who created content can have their ideas spread and used by other people, but they still receive credit and no one profits it off but them. Although, because there are so many active users on the internet and there are so many people copyrighting every single day,  I could see how people could easily get away with not following fair use, and getting away with copyrighted material. Even though the laws of copyright can sometimes be complicated, I am glad that copyright laws exist so that people can get credit for their ideas. I definitely think that if I posted or wrote something, I would want the credit for it. Attached  here  , is an article that is very clear about fair use and the certain laws that

Discussion Post Week Five

Anika Sands ESOC 210 Professor Daly  September 20th, 2017  Although we did not directly discuss this in class, I came across an example of collaboration that directly relates. In my other e-society class, (ESOC 210), we are learning all about copyright laws, the development of computers and history of software from the beginning to technology as we know now. One of the books that we are reading is called, The Innovators, how a group of hackers, geniuses, and geeks created the digital revolution by Walter Isaacson. It examines the way that technology as we know today was discovered and developed, and examines the reason why collaboration was so important. A quote from the book is, "it's also a narrative of how they collaborated and why their ability to work as teams made them even more creative". I think that this is important because there are not many stories or biographies that focus on the importance of teamwork and people working together. Photo fro

Anika Sands Esoc 211 In our class on Tuesday, we discussed an article about the best ways that collaboration and group work happen. The article, "What really makes teams work" by Geoff Colvin examines the different ways that teams can maximize their potential and work together. There was a lot of interesting information in this article that surprised me. Some interesting facts about collaboration is that it is usually best in person. Using texts or over the phone communicate, it can be hard to determine someone's tone. This often leads to misinterpretation and during in person conversations it is much easier to work together and understand what the people in your group are contributing. An interesting fact that goes along with this is, research shows that if you have already collaborated with your team and communicate with them online, it is much more productive than people who have never met in person collaborating online. I thought this was important data found in

The Five Stages of Group Development

Over the last week of class, we have been looking at the five stages of group development, by looking  at these stages, examples of these stages, and learning/ trying improv. In my blog post today, I want to focus on the importance of these five stages. One of the examples that we looked at was the movie, Remember the Titans. Attached is another youtube video explaining all the steps of group development. Click  here  to watch. I am going to go through all stages of the group dynamics and explain what each stage accomplishes, and how to identify what stage a group is in. The first stage of the development is forming. This is where people establish meeting each other, and aren't focused on the basis of their goals yet. They are still getting to know each other and seeing how their personalities work together. The second stage of development is storming. This is when the roles really come into place and people speak their opinions about the way they want things done, and comin
